Just like flatware, stemware is placed on the table in the order of use. Stemware forms a triangle:
Water Goblet – the water goblet is placed in a position closest to the hand, approximately 1 inch above the tip of the dinner knife.
Wine Glass(es) – the white-wine glass is to its right, and the red-wine glass is above them.
Typically Red wine glasses will be a bit taller and have a larger bowl than White wine glasses. In general Reds are bigger and bolder wines so they require a larger glass to allow all those aromas and flavors to emerge.
